Red Devils 'pick off' Panthers to advance to next round
FLATWOODS  — While everyone was picking Russell to win Thursday night, the Red Devils defense was picking Carroll County. Well, by picking they mean intercepting. Russell's defense came up with 3 interceptions — with 2 of those being returned for scores — to help the Red Devils roll their way to a 48-0 shutout win over the Carroll County Panthers in the opening round of the KHSAA Class 3A playoffs. Russell (9-2) advances to the region semifinals where they will face the winn

Defense holds Bulldogs in check as Falcons advance to second round
LANCASTER— If the Fairfield Union Falcons were attorneys, they’d be defense lawyers. Heath (6-5) ran 15 times for just 26 yards and was 9 of 24 passing for 64 yards with an interception. The Falcons recovered 2 of 3 fumbles they forced. "We played well. All Tricks, No Treat: Raiders pull away 2nd half to end Hornets season
COAL GROVE — Halloween is a night full of tricks and treats. During the first half, Coal Grove was treated to plenty of big plays, but the second half was full of tricks as the Mogan Raiders rallied with 21 second half points to take the lead and end the Hornets season with a 43-22 loss on Friday night in the Ohio Division 5 playoffs. "I felt like we played pretty good football. We made some mistakes that hurt us, like the fourth down play and the bad snap to kill another dri

PSU-OSU showdown turned into Big Noon Letdown & a Little League Reunion
Another noon kickoff. Ugh. Fox is killing us all in more ways than one. Jim Knowles and his Penn State defense ride into Ohio Stadium this Saturday for a game that was highly anticipated just two months ago. But the Nittany Lions went on a losing spree, and not just on scoreboards. Head Coach James Franklin is gone. Starting Quarterback Drew Allar is out for the season. And that Knowles defense? It’s been out most of the season, too. The Buckeyes are a three-touchdown favorit

The Dragons (4-6, 3-3) ran the ball 48 times for 325 yards with Davin Murray carrying the mail 18 times for 119 yards and a touchdown to lead the ground game. Christian Bompus ran 16 ti

Murphy's big plays help Hornets sting Redmen, finish undefeated in OVC
PEDRO — Eight was enough. It had been 8 years since the last Ohio Valley Conference championship for the Coal Grove Hornets, but that changed this season as they completed an unbeaten league record in claiming their first football title since 2017. Coal Grove beat the Rock Hill Redmen 26-7 on Friday to finish the regular season 8-2 including 6-0 in the OVC. The Hornets offense was its usual ground-oriented attack but the defense shined by holding the Redmen to just 103 total
