Lady Hornets Blank Blue Angels as Deeds Fires No Hitter.

COAL GROVE — Abbie Deeds seems to repeat herself.

For the second time this season, Deeds pitched a 5-inning no-hitter as the Coal Grove Lady Hornets shut out the Gallia Academy Blue Angels 10-0 on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

Deeds struck out 14 of the 15 outs and walked one batter as she fashioned her pitching gem.

Coal Grove (5-3, 2-1) jumped out in front 4-0 in the first inning.

Deeds singled, Izzy Kitts hit into a fielder’s choice and moved up on a passed ball, and Rylee Black had an RBI single.

Black moved up on a passed ball and Rylee Bare had an RBI single. Mia Haynes, Kasey Vanderhoof, Braelie Hitchcock and Kendall Taylor all singled for the other 2 runs.

The lead went to 6-0 in the second when Kitts reached on an error and Bare cranked a 2-run homer.

The Lady Hornets added 3 more runs in the fourth inning to go ahead 9-0.

Vanderhoof was safe on an error, moved up on Hitchcock’s sacrifice bunt and scored on a hit by Taylor.

Haili McKnight followed with a single for an RBI and an error on the play allowed Taylor and McKnight to score.

Coal Grove created the run rule win in the fifth inning.

Bare was safe on an error, Haynes singled, Taylor walked to load the bases and McKnight singled for the walk-off hit.

Bare was 2-3 with 3 RBI and the home run. Haynes and McKnight each went 2-3 with an RBI, and Taylor was 2-2 with a pair of RBIs.

Colbie Nida took the loss for Gallia Academy (5-3, 1-2).
