Carter's Big Game Propels Lady Pirates Past Lady Hornets

COAL GROVE — Kaylynn Carter proved to be double trouble.
Carter pitched a five-inning one-hitter and also hit a home run to help lead the Wheelersburg Lady Pirates to a 15-0 win over the Coal Grove Lady Hornets on Friday.
Carter struck out eight and did not walk a batter to get the win. She also went 2-4 with 3 runs batted in and her home run.
Ava Estep was 2-4 with 3 RBI, a double and a home run. Katie Boggs was 2-4 with an RBI and a triple.
Mia Haynes singled to right field in the third inning was the only hit for Coal Grove (3-1).
Abbie Deeds only worked 2 innings and got the loss. She struck out 3 and did not walk a batter but was the victim of a shaky defense that was guilty of 7 errors and led to 9 unearned runs.
