Tibbs' 4-Hitter Helps Lady Vikings to 6-3 Win Over Northwest

AID — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings began its Southern Ohio Conference schedule in a big way.
Facing one of the top contenders in the league race, the Lady Vikings used the 4-hit pitching of Brenna Tibbs to beat the Northwest Lady Mohawks 6-3 on Wednesday to open conference play.
“That’s a big league win. That was a big test for us in the conference,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jefff “Odie” Estep.
“We had another great outing by the whole team. Batting, pitching, defense, base running. It was a good team effort.”
Symmes Valley (7-1, 1-0) went up 1-0 in the first inning as Tibbs singled, stole second and third and came home on a hit by Marley Ferguson.
The lead went to 2-0 in the third as Kaycee Thompson walked, Tibbs singled, and after wild pitch Ferguson hit a sacrifice to score courtesy runner Nevaeh Holbrook.
Symmes Valley got 4 runs in the fourth to. Lead 6-0.
Alyssa Waugh singled, Addy Hawk put down a sacrifice bunt and Natalie Simpson belted a 2-run homer.
Addi Ridenour singled, Tibbs singled an out later and Lindsey Freeman doubled for two runs.
Tibbs was 3-4 and Ridenour 2-3 as Symmes Valley had 9 hits.
Northwest fell to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the league.
The Lady Vikings will host Western on Monday.
