IRONTON It was Chicago who sang “Feeling Stronger Everyday.” It was the St. Joseph Flyers who said “Feeling Stronger In The Second Half.”

The Flyers led by 2 goals at the half but then used a strong second half to the Peebles Indians 6-0 as they went on to post a 10-2 soccer win on Monday.

The Flyers (8-0) wasted little time as Wesley Neal scored off a throw-in from Landon Rowe.

Peebles (5-3) tied the game briefly on an unassisted goal by Connor Gross with 24:13 on the clock.

But 5 minutes later, Neal scored an unassisted goal and the Flyers took the lead for good.

The Flyers got an own goal when a shot bounced off the head of a Peebles’ defender and it was 3-1 with 16:14 on the clock.

Colin Sims scored an unassisted goal as Peebles trailed 3-2 at the 12:07 mark.

But that was as close as the Indians would get as the Flyers scored 7 unanswered goals.

Neal scored off a through ball assist from Jack Whaley at the 10:06 mark.

Rowe scored off a through ball assist from Whaley to begin the second half and extended the lead to 5-2.

The duo reversed roles as Whaley scored off a cross from Rowe with 30:25 on the clock.

Neal then scored with a cross pass from Whaley 4 minutes later and it was 7-2.

Whaley and Rowe teamed up again with Whaley getting the coal with 24:46 on the clock.

Rowe then scored but the assist came from Neal at the 23:05 mark.

The final goal was scored by Sophia Rowe with a cross pass from Blake Medinger with 10:40 on the clock.

Neal finished with 4 goals for a haul. Landon Rowe and Whaley had 2 goals each and Sophia Rowe the other goal.

Landon Rowe and Whaley had 3 assists each while Medinger and Neal had one each.

Goalkeeper Beckham Waginger had 6 saves.

The Flyers will play 3 road games this week including at Minford on Tuesday, South Webster on Thursday and Lawrence County, Ky., on Saturday. Those games should start at 5:30.

The Flyers played at West Union on Saturday and blanked the Dragons 18-0.

Jack Whaley had a haul as he scored 4 goals, Mason Weber and Wesley Neal each had a hat trick with 3 goals, Landon Rowe, Beckham Waginger and Carson Lyons all had a brace as they scored 2 goals, and Eli Whaley and Gus Listerman scored one goal each.

Getting assists were Lyons with 3, Eli Whaley, Jack Whaley, Rowe, Waginger, Sophia Rowe 2 each, and Carson Willis, Neal, Rex Weber, Mason Weber, Gus Listerman and Andrew Listerman all one each.

St. Joseph used 2 goalkeepers with Waginger getting 2 saves and Peyton Ford one.
