CENTENARY — Aubrey Ferguson might be a good Blackjack player. She likes to double down.
Ferguson had a pair of doubles and drove in 4 runs as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers beat the Gallia Academy Blue Angels 12-6 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Ironton had 10 hits as Ferguson went 2-4 and Miley Bias also had a big game as she went 3-4 with a triple and 4 RBI.
Ava Bihl was 2-4 with 2 RBI, Khamil Martin 1-1, Ryleigh Kouns and Braegan Thomas 1-4, Kenley Neal 1-5 with an RBI and Layla Townsend 1-5.
Townsend went the distance for the win as she gave up 9 hits, 5 earned runs, struck out 9 and walked 4.
Bias had an RBI single in the first inning as Ironton took a 3-0 lead, but the Blue Angels got 2 runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Lady Fighting Tigers then scored 4 times in the second with Ferguson doubling home a run and Bias getting a 2-run triple.
The lead went to 11-2 in the top of the third keyed by Ferguson’s 3-run double and Neal’s RBI single.
Gallia Academy got a run in the bottom of the third but Ironton got it back in the fifth to lead 12-3.
