Godby leads scorers with 20 in Lady Dragons win over Lady Hornets

PROCTORVILLE — If you take 59 shots and make 56 percent of them, you’re going to score some points.

The Fairland Lady Dragons hit 33 of 39 field goal attempts as they beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 75-26 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Friday.

Bailey Russell hit a triple and scored 9 points in the first quarter while Kiana Miller added a trey as Fairland (8-2, 6-0) jumped in front 20-5.

The lead ballooned to 48-11 at the half as Isa Taliaferro drained a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points, Addison Godby scored 6 points and Addyson Cornell hit a 3-pointer as she got 5 points.

Jenna Anson scored 4 of Coal Grove’s 6 points in the quarter.

Godby and Russell combined for 11 of Fairland’s 13 points in the third quarter and the lead was 61-16.

Five different players scored for Fairland in the fourth quarter with Godby and Cornell scoring 4 each.

Anson had 7 points for Coal Grove in the fourth.

Godby had 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists to pace Fairland. Russell got 16 points and 5 assists, Taliaferro scored 14 points and had 3 assists and Haley Lykins scored 11 points.

Anson finished with 13 points for the Lady Hornets (8-3, 4-2).
