Lady Dragons season comes to end at hands of Lady Marauders

ROCKSPRINGS — The Meigs Lady Marauders beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 10-0 in the first round of the Division 5 sectional softball tournament on Wednesday.


Meigs (23-2) was led by Natalie Goode who was 3-4 with 4 runs batted in, Bella Roush was 2-3 with 2 RBI, and Brooklyn Roush 2-4 with an RBI.


Fairland (3-19) had 4 hits with Yardley Gorby and Raelynn Barker-Chapman each 1-2 while Maddie Cornwell and Aubree Cyrus both 1-3.


Brooklyn Roush got the win for Meigs as she struck out 7 and walked 4.


Already ahead 4-0, the Lady Marauders put up five more runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth to take control of the game.


Goode drove in a pair of runs on a base hit, Roush singled to score a run and a pair of errors in the field allowed two more runs to score and make it 9-0.


The winning run came in the fifth when Allie Hysell singled in Ava Horn for the run-rule win.


Meigs will now face the Coal Grove Lady Hornets in the district semifinals on May 19 at Ohio University at 4:00 P.M.
