Lady Dragons Rebound To Upend Lady Panthers

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons may have been disappointed with their loss on Monday and not getting a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title, but they didn’t show it.

Fairland bounced back from Monday’s loss to the Portsmouth Lady Trojans in a showdown for first place and beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers 59-21 on Thursday.

The win gives the Lady Dragons a final 12-2 record in the OVC with both losses to Portsmouth. Their record gives them sole possession of second place.

Nine different players scored, led by Bailey Russell with 14 points and Khloe Walters who also had 14 points off the bench. Addison Godby had 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 4 steals.

The Lady Dragons (17-4, 12-2) had 14 steals as a team.

Sara Dillon led Chesapeake (11-10, 5-9) with 8 points.

Fairland opened the game by outscoring the Lady Panthers 17-0.

Kamryn Barnitz and Russell scored 4 points each and Siera Pemberton hit a 3-pointer to lead the fast start.

The Lady Dragons put the game away in the second quarter by outscoring Chesapeake 15-3 and the lead was 32-3 at then half.

Addyson Cornwell scored 5 points and Russell had a 3-pointer and scored 4 points.

The Lady Panthers managed to outscore Fairland 15-13 in the third quarter as Dillon scored all of her 8 points. Godby had 4 points for Fairland.

Ava Layne and Barnitz scored 4 points each in the fourth quarter as five different players scored and the Lady Dragons outscored the Lady Panthers 14-3.
