Dragon Wrestling Enjoying Success, Hitting Milestones

PROCTORVILLE The Fairland Dragons wrestling team has been enjoying success on the mat so far this winter, as well as setting personal records along the way.


Fairland wrestled in the Southeast Ohio All-Star Meet on Friday, Nov. 29, with freshman Levi Mitchell and seniors Will Callicoat and Graham participating.


Fairland Dragons’ senior wrestler C.J. Graham displays a plaque from the Southeast Ohio Wrestling Coaches Association that named him the 2023-24 Wrestler of the Year. Graham finished as the Division 3 state runner-up in the 126-pound weight class.

During the meet, Graham was presented a plaque as the Southeast Ohio Wrestling Coaches Association’s Wrestler of the Year.


In the Rick Link Invitational on Dec. 14, Graham was 6-0 and won the 126-pound division with Callicoat also going 6-0 and was the 190-pound division winner.


In a tournament on Dec. 7 at Union Local, Graham was 5-0 as he won the 126 division and Callicoat was 4-1 as he placed second in the 125 class.


During the tournament, Graham amassed his 150th win and also broke the school record for pins with 115. The previous record of 114 was held by Nathaniel Brewer.


Callicoat also hit a milestone with his 100th career pin.
