SCIOTOVILLE — The East Tartans used their size and ground attack to roll their way to their first win of the 2026 season with a 36-0 blanking of the West Union Dragons at James "Snuffy" Smith Field at Allard Park on a hot Thursday night.
East wasted little time getting on the board with a 7-play drive that spanned 61-yards.
The score was set up by big runs on consecutive plays by Bobby Bryant and Leon McKinney.
Bryant rolled off 14 yards on a toss sweep and then McKinney with a 31-yard rumble to the 1.
McKinney took the next hand off to finish the drive and make it 6-0 just over two minutes into the ballgame.
A short field set up the next scoring drive for the Tartans as McKinney walked in from 4 yards out to make it 12-0.
The Tartans (1-2) would put one more on the board before halftime with a 35-yard jet sweep run from Tanner Blackburn and a two-point conversion run from Colt Cook to make it 20-0.
The West Union (0-3) defense made a defensive stand in the red zone right before halftime when Nate West made an open-field tackle on a Tartans runner a couple yards shy of the first down marker to keep the score in check.
However, the Tartans would force a turnover on downs in Dragon territory to begin the second half and then extend their lead further on a 2-yard run from Bryant.
Cook added the two-point conversion run to make it 28-0.
Bryant ripped off an 18-yard run to the Dragon 12 and Baughman went for 12 on the next play to help set up the score.
East capped off the scoring with a 1-play drive that saw Cook go 38 yards for the score and then run in for the two-points to make the final score.
The Tartans will be on the road next Thursday against the Manchester Greyhounds.
