Lyons 4 goals helps Flyers takedown Peebles

PEEBLES — For Carson Lyons, that was quite a haul.
That’s haul as in four soccer goals.
Lyons racked up a haul as the St. Joseph Flyers knocked off the Peebles Indians 6-1 on Monday.
Lyons first goal came at 38:20 on a touch pass assist in the box from Blake Medinger.
With 24:55 on the clock, Lyons scored on a penalty kick and then with 18:10 left in the half he scored thanks to a cross pass assist from the left side by Texas Jack Whaley.
The Flyers finished the half leading 4-0 after Whaley scored at the 3:51 mark off a crossing pass assist from the right side by Sophia Rowe.
St. Joseph (8-3-1) went up 5-0 with 30:46 to play on an unassisted rebound goal by Barrett Waginger.
Less than two minutes later, Waginger assisted Lyons with his fourth goal off a through ball pass.
Peebles (7-6) lone goal was unassisted by Connor Cragg with 2:03 to play.
The Flyers’ goalkeeper Beckham Waginger has 12 saves while Peebles’ Jack Fitzgerald had 13 saves.
The Flyers took 27 shots with 19 on goal. Peebles took 19 shots with 13 on goal.
St. Joseph had 3 corner kicks and 12 fouls with Peebles taking 6 corner kicks and being whistled for 2 fouls.
The Flyers host Lawrence County, Ky., at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
