Knapp, Jenkins key Bobcats shutout win over Wildcats

CHILLICOTHE — Another solid pitching performance and early inning scoring helped the Green Bobcats blank the Whiteoak Wildcats 10-0 at the V.A. Memorial Stadium on Wednesday evening.

"It was another team win for our guys," said Green coach Dave Shoupe. "'The bottom half of our lineup stepped up today and Riddick did a good job of driving baserunners in. We played another solid defensive game tonight."

Knapp delivered another gem of a performance from the mound. The senior pitcher allowed just 4 hits, stuck out 6 and walked one batter in five innings of work. Knapp also went 3-of-4 from the plate that included a double in the third inning to score one of his three RBIs in the game.

"Jon continues to do well on the mound. He has been locked in all season. He also helped himself out offensively," said Shoupe.

The Bobcats also got a big game from Jenkins who went 3-4 and four RBI. Jenkins also sparked Green's 5-run rally in the second when he drove a pair of runs in on a base hit into center.

Mason Neal went 2-3. Gabe Blevins went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI. Kase McIntyre went 2-3 and Connor Blanton had a hit. Brennan Renison also had an RBI in the win.

Already ahead 6-0, the Bobcats piled on 4 more runs in the third to hit the run rule mark.

Back-to-back singles from Blanton and McIntyre led off the inning. Then with one out, Jenkins came through with a drive into left field to score both runners.

Blevins followed up with a triple lined into center to score Jenkins. Then Knapp capped off the scoring with a double into center to score Blevins.

The Wildcats four hits came from Abraham Flader who went 2-2. Jake Kiley had a double. Christian Hite had the other hit.

Jonah Michael took the loss for Whiteoak, giving up 8 earned runs on 13 hits and striking out 5 batters.
