Perkins hits scoring milestone in Panthers win over Redmen

PEDRO — Kaden Perkins plays a lot like the insurance slogan “only pay for what you need.”


Perkins scored only what he needed as he helped the Chesapeake Panthers roll past the Rock Hill Redmen 73-40 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.


Perkins needed 16 to reach 1,000 career points. Perkins hit a deep 3-pointer early in the third quarter to give him 16 points and reach his scoring milestone.


Perkins finished the game with 16 points. Maddox Kazee had a game-high 21 points to pace the Panthers and Karson Frecka scored 12.


Rylan Barker had 11 points and Kelan Davidson 10 to lead Rock Hill (6-14, 2-10).


Frecka Scored 8 points while Perkins hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points as Chesapeake took an 18-10 lead.


Jarred Bridges scored 4 points and Barker and Davidson each hit 3-pointers for Rock Hill’s total.


The lead grew to 36-17 at the half as Kazee scored 6 more points and Perkins drilled a pair of 3-pointers.


The Panthers extended the lead to 56-26 in the third quarter as Thacker Philip Thacker scored all 7 of his points while Kazee had 6 points with Perkins getting his milestone trifecta.


In the fourth quarter, Kazee hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points while Colten Huffman added 4 points and Dennis Scarberry hit a 3-pointer off the bench.


Davidson had a trey as he scored 5 points and Carson Medinger scored 4 points for the Redmen in the quarter.
