Panthers, Layne build up early lead to coast past Lady Pointers

CHESAPEAKE — The quickest way to a win on Tuesday for the Chesapeake Lady Panthers was to take the Express Layne.
Ava Layne, that is.
Layne scored 12 of her 16 points in the first half as Chesapeake built a 19-point lead and went on to beat the South Point Lady Pointers 52-17 in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Layne scored 8 points in the first quarter as Chesapeake jumped ahead 17-2 in the first quarter.
Four different players scored in the second quarter as the lead went to 27-8 at the half.
Abbey Isaacs scored 4 points as four different players scored as Chesapeake extended the lead to 37-12.
K.J. Collins and Sara Dillon scored 4 points each in the fourth quarter while Chloe Parrott, Abbey Mitchell and Layne had 2 points each.
Isaacs finished with 12 points as seven different players scored for the Lady Panthers (4-1, 2-1).
Molly Adams had 7 points and Samiya Bradburn 6 for South Point (0-4, 0-3).
