Blue Devils, Canaday blank Panthers

GALLIPOLIS — The Gallia Academy Blue Devils quarterback Max Canaday ran for 170 yards and threw for 117 in a 41-0 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Chesapeake Panthers on Friday.

Gallia Academy (3-5, 2-2) had 387 total yards with 270 coming on the ground. Parker Burris ran 11 times for 66 yards and a touchdown to go with Canaday's total. Enock Patterson had 3 receptions for 91 yards.

The Panthers (0-8, 0-4) were held to 32 yards passing and a net 7 yards rushing for just 39 total yards.

Gallia Academy took a 21-0 first quarter lead as three different players scored.

Canaday ran 5 yards for the first score with 10:29 on the clock.

Parker Burris got loose on a 37-yard gallop for the second touchdown at the 7:54 mark and then Enock Patterson scored on a 1-yard run with 20 seconds left in the quarter.

Canaday kept the ball early in the second quarter and bolted 58 yards for the score and the lead was 28-0 with 10:54 on the clock.

The Blue Devils managed to score right before the half as Canaday ran one-yard with just 8 seconds left in the half for a 34-0 lead.

The final Blue Devil score came on a 1-yard run by lineman Cory Mock with 6:15 left in the third quarter.

Next Friday, Chesapeake will host Rock Hill and Gallia Academy entertains Ironton.
