Lady Hornets get boost from Hunter to get past Lady Musketeers

COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets have been hunting for some points. They found them with their own Hunter.

Palin Hunter came off the bench to score 11 points to help the Lady Hornets beat the Greenup County Lady Musketeers 47-28 on Tuesday.

“Palin Hunter played a great game off the bench tonight,” said Lady Hornets’ coach Nick Miller. “We’ve been looking for some offensive help and she provided that tonight.”

Karlil Shore and Emma Lively scored 12 points each for Coal Grove (9-3) to give them three players in double figures.

Dharla Crum had a game-high 19 for Greenup (3-6).

Greenup took a 10-8 first quarter lead as Crum got 8 points. Lively hit a 3-pointer and free throw for Coal Grove.

The Lady Hornets held the Lady Musketeers to just 4 points in the second quarter and took a 22-14 halftime lead with Hunter and Shore scoring 4 points each and Lively knocking down another 3-pointer.

The lead grew to 41-26 in the third quarter. Lively hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Jenna Anson had 5 of her 7 points. Shore scored 4 more points and Hunter drilled a 3-pointer.

Crum scored 7 points for Greenup in the quarter.

Coal Grove held Greenup to just 2 points in the fourth quarter and pulled away to the win as Hunter got 4 more points.

Anson was recognized before the game for reaching a milestone by amassing 500 career rebounds.
