Lady Panthers roll past Redwomen behind big scoring duo of Issacs, Layne

CHESAPEAKE — This one was about defense.
The Chesapeake Lady Panthers held the Rock Hill Redwomen to single digit totals each quarter including a scoreless quarter as they posted a 65-20 Ohio Valley Conference win on Friday.
Abbey Isaacs and Ava Layne combined for 39 points to lead Chesapeake (8-2, 4-2). Isaacs had a game-high 22 points with Layne scoring 17.
Chesapeake took a 16-6 first quarter lead as Isaacs had 7 points while Layne drilled a 3-pointer and scored 5 points.
The Lady Pointers held Rock Hill scoreless in the second quarter and built a 37-6 halftime cushion.
Layne scored 8 points, Isaacs hit a 3-pointer and scored 7 points and Abbey Mitchell added 4 points.
Layne and Isaacs combined for 8 points as the Lady Panthers went up 48-13 in the third quarter.
K.J. Collins buried a 3-pointer and scored 7 points as Chesapeake outscored Rock Hill 17-7 in the fourth quarter.
Chesapeake (8-2, 4-2) plays at Symmes Valley at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
