Zane Trace takes D-2 girls district golf title; Ironton's Walters finishes in top 10

CIRCLEVILLE — It wasn’t the kind of day the local lady golfers were hoping for on Tuesday.
The Division 2 District Golf Tournament at Crown Hill Golf Course proved to be difficult to master as no local golfer was able to advance to the state tournament.
The top 2 teams and top 2 individuals not on the qualifying teams advanced to the state tournament.
Rosella Lattavo of Zane Trace was the medalist with a 72. Zane Trace won the tournament with a 357 score and Piketon was runner-up with 385 as both teams advanced.
Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ junior Mairin Walters was 10th overall among individuals with a 93 as she shot rounds of 45 and 48.
In 12th place was junior Samiya Bradburn of South Point with a 94 with identical rounds of 47.
Rock Hill Redwomen junior Laelle Gilmore had rounds of 46 and 49 for a 95 total.
Coal Grove Lady Hornets’ junior Presley Shope went 50-51 for a 101 total. Fairland Lady Dragons’ freshman Madeline Schneider shot a 104 with rounds of 50 and 54.
Ironton senior Sarah Murdock had rounds of 50-55 and finished with a 105 score. Chesapeake Lady Panthers sophomore Emma White had a 113 with rounds of 56 and 57 while Symmes Valley Lady Vikings’ sophomore Pozee Holland went 56-60 for a 116 score.
Chesapeake senior Chloe Thompson shot 58-63 for a 121 and sophomore teammates Temperance Reaves went 57-69 for a 126 and Cadence Soper 59-68 for a 127.
Fairland senior Emily Ferguson was at 131 with rounds of 58 and 73, and senior Taegan Leep was 64-76 for a 140 while freshman Yardley Gorby was 67-84 for 151.
Chesapeake’s Siena Bozick carded a 140 on rounds of 63-77.
Other teams scores were Minford 395, Logan Elm 402, West Union 408, Adena 445, Wheelersburg 462, Huntington Ross 478, Alexander 483, Wellston 484, Chesapeake 487 and Fairland 526.
