MINFORD — In the first half, the Rock Hill Redmen looked like a young team playing their first game of the season. And they were.

By the second half, the Redmen took a step forward as they pulled away from the Minford Falcons for a 34-13 win on Friday night.

Rock Hill took a quick lead as Brady Murrell broke loose on the first play of the game with a 68-yard scoring run and it was 6-0 just 16 seconds into the game.

But Minford came back with a quick drive of its own as scored when quarterback Curtis Glenn went 6 yards into the end zone. Mason Bradley kicked the conversion and the Falcons led 7-6 with 9:19 on the clock.

The drive featured a 43-yard pass from Glenn to Wyatt Swick.

The Redmen used the big play again as they regained the lead in the second quarter. Dallin Cox hit Cash Lyons on a 73-yard pass play and Cameron Howard’s conversion kick made it 13-7 with 8:04 left in the half.

Minford tied the game to start the second half as Glenn hit Swick in the middle of the end zone for a 9-yard scoring strike. The conversion kick failed and it remained 13-all with 7:40 on the clock.

Rock Hill then took the lead for good when Kelan Davidson bolted 48 yards for a touchdown and Howard’s kick made it 20-13 with 6:24 left in the third quarter.
