Redmen make quick work of Oaks

OAK HILL — The game between the Rock Hill Redmen and Oak Hill Oaks started early on Friday.


As a result, Rock Hill made early work of the Oaks as they built a 34-0 halftime lead and downed Oak Hill 34-8 in a non-league game.


Brady Murrell scored on a 9-yard run with 5:02 left in the first quarter as Rock Hill took a 6-0 lead.


Dallin Cox then picked off a pass at the Oak Hill 39 and returned it to the 16. A penalty on the play moved the ball half the distance to the goal and Murrell ran to the 1-yard line to set up a one-yard scoring run by Cox with 38 seconds left in the quarter.


Cameron Howard kicked the conversion for a 13-0 lead.


Oak Hill (0-3) was faced with a second down at the Rock Hill 12-yard line when Connor Moore stepped in front of a pass at the 7-yard line and returned it to the 43.


A penalty on the play moved the ball 15 yards close and on the next play Cox hit Aaron Workman with a 42-yard pass down the sideline for a touchdown with 8:31 left in the half.


Clutters’ kick made it 20-0.


Following a short punt from deep in Oak Hill territory Rock Hill went 33 yards in just 4 plays aided by a 15-yard Oak Hill penalty.

Yaden Bailey plowed into the end zone from a yard out and it was 27-0 with 4:08 on the clock.


The Redmen (2-1) got their final score on a 20-yard scoring strike to Cash Lyons from Cox with just 33 seconds left in the half.


Howard’s conversion made it 34-0.


The score was triggered by Cox’s 30-yard run to the Oaks’ 30.


Oak Hill (0-3) avoided the shutout when Landon Osborne broke free on a 61-yard scoring run with 11:34 to play. Blaise Ford ran for the extra points.


The Redmen finished with 230 total yards with 162 coming on the ground. Murrell ran 11 times for 80 yards and a score while Cox carried 10 times for 60 yards and a touchdown.


Cox also went 5-of-9 passing for 68 yards and two touchdowns.


Workman caught 2 passes for 47 yards and Lyons had 2 grabs for 23 yards. Each caught a TD pass.


Osborne ran 18 times for 108 yards and a score and also was 2-of-6 passing for 57 yards with two interceptions.


Rock Hill visits Fairland next Friday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
