PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redmen were moving, but somewhere someone took away their Google map.

The Redmen started drives but had different obstacles halt their move toward the goal line in a 41-21 loss to the Boyd County Lions on Friday.

The Redmen (1-1) finished with 342 total yards including 226 on the ground. Quarterback Dallin Cox was 9-of-21 passing for 116 yards, a touchdown and an interception. He also ran 11 times for 65 yards and a score.

Cash Lyons caught two passes for 82 yards and a touchdown. Kelan Davidson ran 18 times for 75 yards and Brady Murrell carried 12 times for 60 yards.

But nagging penalties reared their ugly headset the wrong time as they were whistled 8 times for 58 yards.

The Lions (2-0) also moved the ball but finished their drives as they had 417 total yards led by quarterback Jase Manning and running back James McDaniels.

Manning was 15-of-26 passing for 261 yards and a pair of touchdowns and he also ran for a score. McDaniels carried just 5 times but for 121 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Cameron May had 7 catches for 108 yards while Kaleb Kelley caught 6 passes for 97 yards and a score.

The Lions scored four plays into the game as Manning found Thomas Crawford behind the secondary for a 56-yard scoring pass. Ryan Crank kicked the conversion.

Rock Hill moved to the Lions 40-yard line only to have a tipped pass intercepted to halt the drive.

The Lions drove to the 17-yard line of Rock Hill before turning the ball over on downs.

The Redmen then began a time-consuming 20-play scoring drive that shook off a 10-yard holding penalty along the way. The Redmen scored on a 4-yard keeper by Cox on a fourth and goal.

Cameron Howard kicked the extra point to tie the game at 7-all.

But the Lions did a complete opposite scoring drive as James McDaniels bolted 65 yards on the ensuing play after the kickoff to make it 13-7. The conversion pass failed with 7:01 left in the half.

Rock Hill failed to move the ball and was forced to punt. The Lions used a 24-yard punt return by Kaleb Kelley to get deep into Redmen territory at the 26-yard line.

A 17-yard pass to Kelley got the ball to the 7 and 2 plays later Blake Sexton scored and the lead was 20-7 with 2:54 left in the half.

Boyd County put the game away with a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter.

A 29-yard pass for Cameron May set up a 19-yard run by Manning to the 17 and McDaniels scored from there and it was 27-7.

After forcing another punt, the Lions used 9 plays to score with Manning going the final 2 yards for the score. Crane kicked the conversion.

Rock Hill then drove 64 yards in just 6 plays with Cox hitting Lyons on a 28-yard scoring strike and it was 34-14.

But again the Lions were able to answer as they went 77 yards in 7 plays capped by a 39-yard scoring strike down the middle of the field to Kelley and it was 41-14.

Rock Hill refused to quit and answered with a 54-yard pass from Cox to Lyons to set up a 3-yard scoring run by Brady Murrell. Howard’s conversion kick capped the scoring.
