Lady Vikings Collect Shutout Win Over Westfall

AID — The three main ingredients for softball success.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings used all three ingredients to whip up an 8-0 win over the Westfall Lady Mustangs on Friday.

Brenna Tibbs and Addy Hawk combined on a 4-hitter while the offense spanked out 11 hits.

Tibbs went 3 innings for the win. She gave up just one hit. Addy Hawk finished allowing 3 hits striking out 5 and no walks.

“We had good pitching and good defense. We put the ball in action and made things happen,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.

The Lady Vikings got all the runs they needed in the first inning as they took a 5-0 lead

Tibbs got a leadoff single, stole second and third, and scored on a hit by Emma Ridenour.

Alyssa Waugh singled, both moved up on a wild pitch and Jaden McComas had a 2-run single. Kaycee Thompson reached on an error for a run and Addi Ridenour was safe on an error for a run.

Symmes Valley (4-1) added a run in the second inning when Lindey Freeman and Marley Ferguson had one-out doubles.

The final two runs scored in the fifth inning as Emma Ridenour and Alyssa Walls singled and Jaden McComas had a 2-run double.

McComas was 2-3 with 3 RBI and a double, Addi Ridenour and Waugh were 2-3 while Ferguson was 1-2 with a double and RBI and Emma Ridenour 1-2. Thompson and Lindsey Freeman were 1-3 and Tibbs 1-4.

Symmes Valley (4-1) plays at Pt. Pleasant at 10 a.m. and Independence, W.Va.,  on Saturday.
