Lady Vikings advance to district finals with blanking of Western

RIO GRANDE — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings began their Division 7 tournament trail on Monday and kicked up a lot of dust.
The Lady Vikings spent a lot of time scoring runs as they blanked the Western Lady Indians 15-0 in a 5-inning run rule game.
Brenna Tibbs pitched a one-hitter as the Lady Vikings used a 12-hit barrage to get the easy win. Tibbs struck out 12 and did not walk a batter as she faced just one hitter over the limit.
The Lady Vikings took a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
Tibbs led off with a double, stole third and Emma Ridenour had an RBI single, Marley Ferguson doubled home a run. Lindsey Freeman reached on an error for an RBI, and after a passed ball and ground out, Natalie Simpson had an RBI single.
The lead went to 8-0 in the second inning.
Kaycee Thompson had a leadoff single and Addi Ridenour had an RBI double. Tibbs walked and Emma, Ridenour singled home a pair of runs, Emma Ridenour and Tibbs moved up on a wild pitch and Ridenour came home on a passed ball.
The Lady Vikings put the game away with 7 runs in the fourth.
Tibbs walked, stole second and scored on Ridenour’s single. Ferguson doubled and Lindsey Freeman then tripled home the runners.
Natalie Simpson and Autumn Justice reached on errors. A wild pitch scored a run. Thompson singled for a run, a throwing error scored a run, A walk forced a runner home and a passed ball and a wild pitch scored the final two runs.
Emmas Ridenour was 3-3 with a double and 3 RBI, Ferguson 2-3 with a double and Thompson 2-3.
Symmes Valley (25-2) faces Eastern Meigs at 4 p.m. Thursday in the district finals.
Bailey Ison led off the fifth inning with a single to center field for Western (1-13).
