Lady Hornets romp Minford as Deeds tosses no-hitter

COAL GROVE — One team had trouble getting hits and scoring runs while the other team had no problem at all.
With Abbie Deeds throwing a 5-inning no-hitter, the Coal Grove Lady Hornets banged out 11 hits en route to a 19-0 romp over the Minford Lady Falcons.
Deeds struck out 10 and walked one as she shut down the Minford bats.
Coal Grove (3-2) had eight different batters get hits with Mia Haynes leading the way as she went 2-2 with 5 runs batted in.
Kendall Taylor went 2-2 with 2 runs batted in, Deeds 2-4 with an RBI, Shay Collins 1-2 with 2 RBI, Braelie Hitchcock1-2 with an RBI, Izzy Kitts 1-3, Rylee Black 1-1 with an RBI, and Rylee Bare 1-2 with 2 RBI.
The Lady Hornets settled the outcome early with 8 runs in the first inning and 7 in the second.
In the first, Deeds and Hitchcock were hit by pitches, Collins, Kitts, Black, Taylor, Bare and Haynes all walked, Deeds had an RBI single and Collins grounded out for a run.
In the second, Black was hit by a pitch, Taylor, Bare and Hitchcock walked and Haynes had a 2-run single and Collins an RBI single.
The final 4 runs scored in the fourth when Black walked and Taylor, Bare, Hitchcock and Haynes all singled.
