COAL GROVE — Hits and runs were at a premium, but not a win for the Coal Grove Lady Hornets.
Coal Grove’s Abbie Deeds pitched a no-hitter in a 2-0 Ohio Valley Conference win over the South Point Lady Pointers whose pitcher Kota Copley allowed only one hit which didn’t figure into the scoring.
The win made the Lady Hornets 16-3 on the season as they finished the OVC with a 13-1 record.

Deeds struck out 13 and walked one to get the win. Copley fanned 11 but issued 4 critical walks.
The only runs of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning.
With one out, Deeds reached on an error and then. Kendall Taylor, Izzy Kitts and Rylee Black all walked to force in a run.
Mia Haynes hit into a force out at third base as the second run scored.
The lone hit was a single by Brianna Malone.
