Lady Dragons slug their way past Lady Panthers

PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Lady Dragons put an end to their frustrations by putting an end to their losing streak.


Close games or not, the Lady Dragons opened the season with 18 straight losses.


But Fairland put that all behind them as they battled to a 7-6 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Monday.


Fairland (1-18, 1-11) banged out 11 hits en route to the win led by Katie Dehart who was 4-4 with a pair of runs batted in , Jordan Spencer who was 3-4 with 3 RBI and a double, and Ally Shepherd who was also 3-4 with a double.


Maddie Short went 1-1 and Aubrey Hayes drove in a run.


Short was the inning pitcher as she gave up 7 hits, 2 earned runs with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks.


Zoey Thompson and 2-4 with a double and RBI to pace Chesapeake (7-17, 1-12). Jaeden Anderson was 1-4 with a double and 2 RBI, Sophie Wagner 1-3 with an RBI, K.J. Collins 2-4 and Kaydence Easthom was 1-4.


Lafon took the loss as she gave up 11 hits, 6 erred runs with 3 strikeouts and 3 walks.
