Lady Bobcats Shake Off Slow Start To Rout Lady Tigers

NEW BOSTON — Just like a cold engine, the Green Lady Bobcats had trouble getting started.

But once the engine warmed up, the Lady Bobcats pulled away to a 64-34 Southern Ohio Conference I win over the New Boston Lady Tigers on Monday.

Green (11-1, 1-0) led by just 2 points after the first quarter but built a 18-point lead by halftime.

Abbie Knapp had a double-double with a game-high 28 points as well as 20 rebounds to go with 7 assists to lead Green. Mattie Hayslip had a big game with four 3-pointers as she scored 20 points and had 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

Brooklyn Boyer scored 19 points for New Boston (3-4, 0-1).

Knapp had 4 points as Green took an 11-9 first quarter lead.

The Lady Bobcats outscored New Boston 21-5 in the second quarter to lead 32-14 at the half, Knapp scored 13 points for Green while Boyer had all of the Lady Tigers’ points.

Hayslip hit a 3-pointer and scored 5 points while Knapp had 8 points and Green extended its lead to 50-28 after three quarters. Boyer scored 12 of New Boston’s 14 points in the quarter.

Hayslip drained three 3-pointers and scored 11 points and the defense held Boyer scoreless as Green coasted to the win.
