Lady Bobcats Beat Eastern; Win Streak Hits 12

BEAVER — A letdown was expected, but not a loss and the Green Lady Bobcats didn’t let anyone down.

Coming off a thrilling win over Portsmouth Notre Dame on Monday, the Lady Bobcats were able to focus and beat the Beaver Eastern Lady Eagles 58-38 on Wednesday.

Abbie Knapp scored 27 points and Mattie Hayslip hit five 3-pointers as she scored 20 points as Green improved to 18-1 on the season.

The win also extended the Lady Bobcats streak to 12 games.

Hayslip hit a pair of 3-pointers and Knapp scored 6 points as Green took a 15-10 first quarter lead.

Ward scored 5 of Eastern’s points in the quarter.

Knapp took over in the second quarter and hit a 3-pointer among her 10 points. Elizabeth McBee also hit a trey as Green opened up a 30-17 halftime lead.

The Hayslip-Knapp tandem went to work in the third quarter. Hayslip had two 3-pointers and scored 9 points with Knapp also making a triple as she scored 6 points and the lead ballooned to 47-22.

Eastern outscored Green 16-11 in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles converted 10 of 14 free throws.

Ward scored 7 as she went 5 of 6 at the line and Weaver was 4 of 6 from the free throw line.

Ward scored 15 points and Weaver 14 for Eastern (7-13).
