Flyers hammer out 13 hits in win over Hornets (video)

IRONTON — Eight different batters hammered out 13 hits for Saint Joseph and Evan Aldridge turned in another strong outing to help the Flyers beat the Coal Grove Hornets 12-1 on Tuesday.
The win improved the Flyers overall record to 10-5. The Hornets fell to 4-13 on the season.
The Flyers wasted little time getting on the board, as Landon Rowe doubled to lead off the bottom of the first. Then Mason Weber followed with a triple into left and Beckham Waginger doubled to make it 2-0.
Aldridge singled back up the middle to score Waginger. Then a batter later, Carson Willis hit an RBI single up the middle to give the Flyers a 4-0 lead after one.
Saint Joseph added two more runs in the second, getting RBI singles from Waginger and Aldridge in the frame.
The Hornets scratched their only run across the plate in the third, as Leland McKnight singled to lead off the inning, then stole second and reached third on a throwing error. Derik Bloomfield grounded out to third, but McKnight was still able to score and cut the Flyers lead to 6-1.
The Flyers tacked on six more runs in the fourth to extend their lead to 12-1.
During the inning Weber drew a walk, Waginger was hit by a pitch and Aldridge singled to score a run. Waginger scored on a fielders' choice. and Aldridge scored on an error. Carter Johnson hit a 2-run single into left and Carson Lyons scored on a passed ball to round out the scoring.
Aldridge picked up the win for Saint Joseph with six strikeouts and allowed two hits in just four innings of work. Aldridge also helped himself out at the plate, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs.
Waginger came on in the fifth to finish out the game.
Rowe went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Weber went 2-2 with an RBI and a triple. Waginger went 2-2 with a double and two RBIs. Willis and Johnson both went 1-3 with 2 RBIs. Blake Medinger and Lyons had a hit and Neal had an RBI in the win.
Blake Collins was 2-4 with 2 runs batted in and a double with Brisen Collins 2-4 with a double to pace the Hornets.
McKnight was 1-2 and Bloomfield went 1-2 with a double and an RBI for the Hornets.
