PORTSMOUTH — One is the loneliest number.

In the boys Division 3 district golf tournament Monday the Elks Country Club, only one team and one individual advanced to the state tournament.

Despite playing well as a team, the St. Joseph Flyers finished fourth and did not advance. Waterford outplayed all 10 teams with a 318 score to earn the trip to the state tournament.

Sophomore Christopher Phillips and freshman Mitchell Heighton led the Flyers who posted a 350 team score.

Phillips had rounds of 43 and 38 for an 81 while Heighton was one stroke back as he shot identical rounds of 41 to card an 82.

Senior Carson Willis was next with a 92 as he shot 44 and 48, junior Jadyn Fields and sophomore Peyton Ford each had a 95 with Fields shooting 45-50 and Ford 43-52.

Rock Hill Redmen senior Ben Simpson shot an 81 for the tournament on rounds of 43 and 38.
