OAK HILL — The Oak Hill Oaks postseason tournament hopes ran smack into a Wall.
Fairland’s Ethan Wall pitched 5 strong innings and also went 2-3 with a double, a home run and drove in 3 runs as the Dragons beat the Oak Hill Oaks 13-2 in a run rule win in the Division 5 district quarterfinals on Wednesday.
Fairland (8-17) will play Lucasville Valley at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Veteran Stadium in Chillicothe.
The Dragons banged out 11 hits with Wyatt Thomas and Luke Brown each going 2-5 with a pair of RBI while Kaden Wiseman was 2-4 with an RBI.
Wall hit a solo home run in the first inning as Fairland took a 1-0 lead.
The Dragons came back with 4 runs in the second inning.
Kaden Wiseman and Wyatt Thomas singled to start the inning and Wall delivered a 2-run double and it was 3-0. Garrett Cornwell doubled home Wall and then came around to score on an error.
The Oaks were guilty of 7 errors that led to 6 unearned runs.
Oak Hill (9-7) got on the scoreboard with two runs in the third inning to cut the deficit to 5-2.
Eddie Abele walked, Joseph Anteby singled, both moved up on a fielder’s choice and Abele scored on a passed ball. Jesse Zachariah reached on an error to score Anteby.
But the Dragons answered in a big way by scoring 6 runs in the fourth inning to open up an 11-2 lead and created the run rule win with a pair of runs in the sixth.
