Dragons Breeze Past Blue Devils; Remain Undefeated In OVC Play

PROCTORVILLE — Quietly, the Fairland Dragons are making a lot of noise.

The Dragons breezed past the Gallia Academy Blue Devils with a 61-43 win on Thursday as they improved to 8-1 on the season and stayed unbeaten in the Ohio Valley Conference at 4-0.

Brody Buchanan led the Dragons with a game-high 24 points that included 4-of-9 shooting from behind the arc. Trevor Lochow scored 17 to back Buchanan’s total.

Gabe Polcyn had 8 rebounds, Cliff Fransen 7 and Keegan Smith 5 for Fairland. Fransen and Lochow had 3 assists each.

Cade Mock scored 20 points and had 4 rebounds to lead Gallia Academy (2-7, 0-6).

The Dragons took a 17-6 first quarter lead as Lochow hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points while Buchanan had a triple and scored 5 points.

Buchanan made two more 3-pointers in the second quarter and Smith had 5 points including a trey as the lead grew to 32-15 at the half.

Mock scored 6 points and Ty Reed had a 3-pointer for the Blue Devils.

Fairland continued to build on its lead in the third quarter by going in front 48-28. Lochow hit a 3-pointer and scored 9 points while Buchanan hit another trifecta and scored 5 more points.

Macen Meadows and Mock combined for 9 of the Blue Devils’ 13 points in the quarter.

Buchanan and Smith combined for 9 of Fairland’s 13 points in the fourth quarter.

Mock scored 8 points for the Blue Devils.
