Dragons Battle To Get Key Win Over Warriors

PORTSMOUTH — Whenever the Fairland Dragons and Eastern Brown Warriors face each other, it’s a close game.

Saturday the two teams met in the Battle of 740 at Shawnee State University and, yep, it was close again.

Fairland outscored Eastern by a basket in the fourth quarter and got away with a 46-44 win.

Eastern went up 13-8 in the first quarter as Drew Edmisten hit a 3-pointer and scored 6 points.

Trevor Lochow hit a 3-pointer and Gaby Polcyn scored 3 points for Fairland.

The Dragons came back in the second quarter to tie the game at 24-all heading into the break.

Brody Buchanan hit a 3-pointer as he scored 9 points, Polcyn added 4 points and Trevor Lochow hit a trey for the Dragons.

Grady Barber had 6 points and Kade Walkup a 3-pointer for the Warriors.

Each team scored 10 points in the third quarter to make it 34-34.

Maddox Gue and Cliff Fransen had 3-pointers for Fairland.

Barber scored 4 points and the Warriors were 4-of-6 at the foul line.

Keegan Smith had all 5 of his points and Polcyn added 3 points with Buchanan hitting a pair of foul shots.

Chase Pinkerton and Carter Cluxton had 4 points each for Eastern.

Buchanan led Fairland (4-0) with 17 points and Polcyn scored 10. Buchanan also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists, Polcyn had 4 rebounds with Smith getting 3 assists.

Barber had 13 points and 5 rebounds to pace Eastern (2-2).
