Complete Effort Gives Panthers Win Over Rebels

PEDRO — The Chesapeake Panthers got a complete team effort to take down the South Gallia Rebels 10-4 on Thursday night at Rock Hill High School.

"Tonight was a complete team win," said Panthers coach Tommy Burcham.

Braxtyn Brown picked up the win for the Panthers. The junior gave up four runs on eight hits, walked one and fanned 11 batters in a 7 innings of work.

The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first when Peyton Muncy hit a 2-RBI double off of Aydrien Clickenger.

Chesapeake (1-5) added another in the second after Mason Budd singled to left field to bring home another run.

In the third, the Panthers piled on six runs on five hits to break things wide open. During the inning, Aden Parrott singled, scoring one run. Then Joe Cremeans was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. Austin Collins singled to score two runs, and Budd tripled, scoring two runs and give the Panthers a 9-1 lead.

The Panthers racked up 14 hits in the game. Budd went 3-for-5 at the plate with 3 RBIs and Dylan White went 3-4 to lead the offense. Collins was 2-4 with a double and 2 RBIs, Kaden Perkins 2-4, Parrott 1-4 and an RBI, Cremeans had an RBI, and Muncy finished 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBIs.

Garrett Gibson finish 2-3 at the plate, Noah Devine went 2-3 with an RBI, and Clickenger went 1-3 for the Rebels.

Clickenger took the loss for South Gallia.

The Panthers will be on the road against Ironton on Friday in Ohio Valley Conference action.
