PEDRO — Home, away or neutral site, Jon Knapp doesn’t seem to mind where he pitches.

Playing at an alternative site due to the recent weather, Knapp pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 9 as the Green Bobcats blanked the St. Joseph Flyers 10-0 in a 6 inning run rule Southern Ohio Conference 1 game on Thursday.

“Everyone contributed to this win. Jon had a great day on the mound and we backed him up defensively,” said Green coach Dave Shoupe.

“Offensively, we were swinging it well. We were proud of our effort tonight.”

After a scoreless first inning, Green (5-1, 2-0) got three runs in the second.

Quincy Merrill was safe on an error and scored when C Blanton was safe on an error.

Landon Kimbler and Gabe Blevins followed with hits to cap the rally.

“We hit good and we were very aggressive on the bases,” said Kimbler. “We’ve really come together as a team and rallied behind each other.”

Mason Neal tripled and Merrill singled in the third and it was 3-0.

Kimbler singled and Blevins reached on an error for a run in the fourth.

The Bobcats got four runs in the fifth to make it 9-0.

Neal, Merrill and Noah McMackin all singled. A fielder’s choice scored a run and Kimbler and Blevins got hits.

The final run scored in the sixth on Blake Smith’s triple and Neal’s base hit.

Kimbler was 3-4, Blevins was 3-4 with 3 RBI and a double, Neal was 3-4 with an RBI and a triple, and Merrill was 2-3 with 2 RBI.

The Flyers (1-3, 0-2) only got three runners as far as second base. Landon Rowe singled and stole second in the third, Carson Lyons singled and stole second in the fourth, and Rowe — who went 2-for-3 — reached on an error and went to second on a wild pick off throw in the sixth.

Mother nature nearly postponed this game, as neither teams' field was in condition to take the game. But Rock Hill was willing to open its doors to both schools to get the game in and Green coach David Shoupe was gracious for their hospitality.

"We would like to thank coach Barry Litteral and superintendent David Hopper for letting us use their facilities to get this game in. It's one of the best in southern Ohio,” said Shoupe.
