Lady Dragons earn win over Lady Tigers; Lose shorten match with Piketon

IRONTON — It was a split with identical scores as the Fairland and Ironton soccer teams met on Saturday at Tanks Memorial Stadium.

In the girls’ game, the Lady Dragons blanked Ironton 2-0 as they scored a goal in each half.

Fairland’s Yardley Gorby scored at the 25:20 mark of the first half with an assist from Ava Runyon to make it 1-0.

Gorby had a hand — or rather a foot — in on the second goal with an assist as Laekyn Wilks scored the goal with 74:55 on the clock.

The Ironton Fighting Tigers won the boys’ game 2-0 with goalkeeper Liam Almekinder turning in an outstanding performance with 12 saves.

Demir Curtis scored the first Ironton goal with an assist from Luke Turley. Curtis teamed up with Jace Mills for the second goal. Mills scored the goal while Curtis got the assist.

PIKETON — The Fairland Lady Dragons lost 1-0 in a soccer match against the Piketon Lady RedStreaks on Thursday.

The game was called with 15:20 to play due to lightning.
