GALLIPOLIS — Golf is a team sport as well as an individual sport. And being an individual sport is good news for Samiya Bradburn.
The South Point Lady Pointers' junior golfer couldn’t qualify for the district tournament as a team with just two teammates, so she qualified as an individual and she did it in high fashion by claiming the Division 2 sectional tournament medalist honors.
Bradburn shot rounds of 44 and 43 for an 87 total to edge Trimble’s Braylee Richards who had an 88 on rounds of 41 and 47.
Both golfers qualified for the district Thursday at Crown Hill Golf Course in Circleville. The top two teams and individuals will advance to the state tournament.

Fry shot 65-63 for a 128 and Copley was 81-77 for 158.
Two local teams qualified for the district as the Chesapeake Lady Panthers were third and the Fairland Lady Dragons were fourth. The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings just missed qualifying as they finished 4 shots Fairland.
