Lady Pointers close out OVC play with win over Lady Trojans

SOUTH POINT — Portsmouth was quick to start but South Point was even quicker to answer.
The Lady Trojans took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning only to have the Lady Pointers score 5 runs in the bottom of the inning to propel them to an 8-3 Ohio Valley Conference win on Thursday.
South Point (18-7, 11-3) had 8 hits with Kaylee Stidham going 2-3 with a double and an RBI and Adyson Copley was 2-4 with a double to lead the offense.
Adding to the South Point offense were Natilyn Spears who was 1-2 with an RBI, Kyleigh Castle and Kota Copley each 1-3, and Raygen Yates 1-3 with an RBI.
Kota Copley pitched an 8-hitter for the win as she struck out 4 and walked 2.
Portsmouth (11-12, 6-7) also had 8 hits. Caitlyn Galloway was 2-3, Mia Boren 2-4, Karlee Galloway and Katie Ankrom both 1-3, Evanie Wampler 1-3 with 2 RBI, Bailey Waughtel 1-4, and Gigi Bedard had an RBI.
Bedard took the loss as she gave up 8 hits, 7 earned runs with3 walks and no strikeouts.
