IRONTON — The Ironton Fighting Tigers fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first inning.

No problem.

Despite falling behind early, Ironton chipped away and got a 4-3 walk-off win over the Amanda-Clearcreek Aces on Monday.

“We gave up some runs to start the game, but the kids fought back and won it in the seventh,” said Ironton coach John Hunt.

“Dawson (Philyaw) pitched a great game. They didn’t get anything after the first inning.”

Dawson Philyaw allowed just 5 hits, struck out 5 and did not issue a walk in going the distance.

The Aces (10-10) got only two runners as far as second base and one runner reached third base on a two-out sacrifice bunt.

Carter Bridges left off the bottom of the seventh inning for Ironton with a double to left-center. Tanner Kleinman got an infield hit and stole second.

After a fly out to short right field, Silas Ginger walked to load the bases and Braydon Baker drilled a single deep to left field to drive home Bridges with the winning run.

The Aces took the lead in the top of the first inning with three unearned runs.

Nick Holland reached on an error to start the game, went to second on a ground out and scored on a hit by Andrew Miller.

An overthrow on the play let Miller go to second and he went to third on a ground out. Cole Schiff singled to drive in a run, moved up on an overthrow and scored on a double by Collin Thomas.

Ironton (15-5) got a run in the third on a double by Kleinman, a single by Carson Freeman and a sacrifice fly by Baker.

The Fighting Tigers (14-6) tied the game with a pair of runs in the fourth inning.

With one out, Jacob Hughes singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Bridges. Kleinman doubled Bridges to third where he scored on a hit by Freeman.

Ironton had 11 hits with Kleinman 3-3 with 2 doubles, Bridges 2-3 with a double and an RBI, Baker going 2-3 with 2 RBI, Hughes was 2-3, and Freeman 2-3 with an RBI.

For the Aces, Miller was 2-4 with a double and an RBI, Thomas 2-3 with a double and an RBI, and Schiff 1-3 with an RBI.
