Bobcats pick up pair of wins over Peebles, Fairview

FRANKLIN FURNACE — Overtime must pay well for the Green Bobcats.


Green proved working extra with pay dividends as the Bobcats beat the Peebles Indians 7-6 in nine innings on Tuesday.


In the bottom of the ninth, Gabe Blevins walked, stole second, took third on a hit by Jon Knapp and scored on a sacrifice fly by Nolan McMackin.


Peebles (14-9) took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Bo Johnson doubled, Crew Wilson walked, and Nash Grooms reached on an error to score both runners.


Green (18-4) tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a walk to Jenkins, a sacrifice by Mason Neal, a singled by Blevins, a stolen base by Blevins and Jon Knapp’s RBI single.


The Bobcats took a 4-2 lead in the third when Neal singled and Knapp and Noah both reached on errors.

Peebles took a 5-4 lead in the fifth inning.


Wilson reached on an error, Nash Grooms was hit by a pitch, Braylen Stevens doubled for a run, Tyler Smith grounded out for a run and Caleb Johnson was safe on an error for a run.


The Indians added a run in the sixth to lead 6-4 when Wilson was safe on an error and scored on a hit by Connor Gross.


But Green tied the game with 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh.


With one out, Neal and Blevins hit back-to-back doubles and McMackin came through with a two-out RBI single.


Peebles had runners and first and third in the eighth but Gross grounded out to end the threat. The Indians were retired in order in the top of the eighth.


Knapp got the win with 2 innings of relief work. He struck out 2 and the rest of his stat line was zeroes.


Blevins was 3-4 with a double and an RBI, and Mason Neal was 2-4 with a double, and Knapp was 2-5 with 2 RBI.


Bo Johnson was 2-5 with a double, Stephens 1-3 with a double and an RBI, Gross 1-4with an RBI, Caleb Johnson 1-5 with an RBI.

WESTWOOD, Ky. — Gabe Blevins was hung up on the number 2.


Blevins pitched a 2-hitter and also went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles as the Green Bobcats beat the Fairview Eagles 11-1 on Wednesday.


Blevins struck out 10 and walked just one over 6 innings to get the win.


The Bobcats had 12 hits as Noah McMackin went 3-3, Mason Neal 2-4 with 2 RBI, Brennan Renison was 2-2 with a double and 3 RBI, Riddick Jenkins 1-4 with 2 RBI, Uriah Satterfield 1-3 and Kase McIntyre 1-4.


Green (19-4) jumped in front 5-0 in the second inning.


McMackin and Satterfield singled, McIntyre was safe on an error, Renison walked, Neal singled and an error on the play scored a run and Blevins capped the rally with an RBI double.


The lead went to 9-0 in the third inning.


McMackin singled, Satterfield was hit by a pitch, McIntyre doubled, Renison singled and both Jenkins and Neal had RBI singles.


Fairview (13-13) got its run in the fourth when Justin Everetts singled, stole second, moved up on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Mason Lemaster.


Green ended the game early with 2 runs in the sixth.


McMackin singled, went to third when McIntyre reached on an error and Renison had an RBI double.

Everetts was 2-3 for Fairview.
