4 local golfers advance to girls district tournament in D2

JACKSON — There may not have been any local teams in the Division 2 girls sectional golf tournament, but there were still some good local golfers.

Four local girls advanced as individuals to the district tournament next week after playing well Monday at Franklin Valley Golf Course.

Rock Hill Redwomen’s Ladle Gilmore finished fourth with a 92 on identical rounds of 46.

Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ duo of Mairin Walters was fifth and Sarah Murdock seventh to advance. Walters shot a 93 on rounds of 45 and 48 with Murdock going 45-53 for a 98 total.

Also advancing was Coal Grove Hornets’ Presley Shope with a 50-51 for a 101 total.

Ironton’s Aurelien Lewis — who has played golf for two months — shot a 139 while Green Lady Bobcats’ Taylor Patten shot a 149.

The district tournament will be Tuesday at Crown Hill Golf Club in Williamsport.
