Vikings get combined 2-hitter to edge past Oaks in league opener

AID — Pitching took center stage and Gradee Holland and Tanner Corn were the two biggest stars.
Holland and Corn combined on a two-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings edged the Oak Hill Oaks 2-1 in a Southern Ohio Conference game.
Holland went 5.2 innings allowing just two hits, one unearned run, with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Holland threw 121 pitches with 64 strikes. He was forced to leave due to pitch limitations.
Corn came on and finished and got the win as he struck out three, walked none and did not allow a hit in his 1.1 innings of work.
The Vikings (1-3, 1-0) fell behind 1-0 in the first inning but tied the game in the fifth and got an unearned run in the seventh to notch the win.
Tanner Thompson was 2-2 while Andy Strow and Mason Campbell were each 1-3 for Symmes Valley (1-3, 1-0).
The Oaks’ Mikey Williams was the star for the Oaks as he went six innings giving up three hits, one earned run with 11 strikeouts and five walks.
Williams was also 2-3 for Oak Hill (1-3, 0-1).
