Lady Vikings power past Oak Hill to open up SOC play

AID — Just like the Power Rangers, the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings decided to power up.

The Lady Vikings flexed their power muscles on Monday as they smacked four home runs to back the perfect game pitching of Brenna Tibbs in a 17-0 five-inning run rule win.

Tibbs — who slugged one of the home runs — struck out 11 and did not walk a batter as she retired all 15 batters in a row including striking out the final three batters.

Marley Ferguson, Maci Bland and Kaycee Thompson also belted round trippers as the Lady Vikings banged out 16 hits.

Thompson was 3-4 with four runs batted in, Ferguson 2-2 with three RBI, Bland 1-2 with two RBI, Tibbs 2-3 with a double and two RBI, Addy Hawk 3-3with three RBI, Addi Ridenour 1-3 with a double and two RBI, Rylee Littlejohn 1-2 with an RBI, Emily Jackson and Ryleigh Skaggs each 1-1 and Olivia Ridenour 1-2.

Ferguson hit a solo home run with Thompson and Hawk getting singles to produce the second run in the first inning for a 2-0 lead.

Tibbs doubled and Bland homered with two outs in the second inning and it was 4-0.

The Lady Vikings (7-2) erupted for eight runs in the third inning.

Hawk, and Littlejohn had singles and Ridenour a double as the lead went to 9-0. Tibbs then hit a two-run home run. Thompson and Hawk added singles for a run.

Olivia Ridenour singled to start a five-run fourth inning. Tibbs and Bland walked, Ferguson singled for a run and Thompson crushed a grand slam home run to cap the rally.

Symmes Valley (7-2) visits Coal Grove on Tuesday, Northwest on Wednesday and Western on Thursday.

Oak Hill fell to 0-5 on the season.
