AID — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers faced a tall order on Saturday but they didn’t shrink down.
Ironton faced one Division 1 pitching commit and a possible second top prospect as they dropped a pair of games at the annual 26th Valley of Thunder softball showcase, but the Lady Fighting Tigers battled from start to finish.
Both the Chillicothe Lady Cavaliers (10-0) and the Kenton Ridge Lady Cougars (8-0) are unbeaten on the season.
But Ironton (3-4) lost just 6-0 to the Chillicothe and Akron pitching commit C.J. Rittinger who threw a two-hitter. She struck out 11 and did not walk a batter.
Cadie Boltenhose hit a three-run home run in the first inning that gave the Lady Cavaliers a 3-0 lead.
Layla Townsend and Braegan Thomas each went 1-3 for Ironton’s hits.
