Lady Pointers bounce back with win over Lady Devils

FLATWOODS, Ky. — It was bounce back time for the South Point Lady Pointers.


After a tough loss on Thursday, the Lady Pointers bounced back on Friday with a 9-4 win over the Russell Lady Devils.


Kota Copley pitched a seven-hitter as she struck out 10 and walked six for the win. Copley also went 3-5 at the plate.


Russell took the lead in the bottom of the first with a one out single by Hadley Cook to score Bella Hall. Nora Ladd followed up with sacrifice fly into right field and Allie Highfield tagged up to make it 2-0.


In the third, South Point would cut the deficit in half. A single from Ryelly Cochran, a double from Adyson Copley and Kaylee Stidham would be intentionally walked to load up the bases. Kyleigh Castle would be hit by a pitch to move the runners and score a run.


It wouldn't be until the fifth inning when the Lady Pointers would take the lead.


Kota Copley would single and the next two batters would reach on a walk and a hit by pitch to load the bases. Then with two outs, Copley would score in a passed ball to tie the game.


Natilyn Spears would draw a walk to reload the bases and Chloe West would draw a walk to bring home Adyson Copley home to make it 3-2.


The Lady Devils were able to tie the game back up in the bottom of the fifth when Highfield scored on a sacrifice fly by Karson Hale.


However the Lady Pointers would take the lead for good in the top of the sixth.


With one out, Adyson Copley singled into left to score a run. Kaylee Stidham doubled to bring Copley home. Kyleigh Castle drew a walk. Raygen Yates singled into left to bring home a run.


Later in the inning with two outs, West drove in Castle on a base hit to make the score 8-3 and coast the rest of the way.


South Point (6-2) banged out 10 hits with Adyson Copley going 3-4 with a double and two runs batted in. West was 1-2 with three RBI, Stidham was 1-4 with a double and an RBI, Yates was 1-3 with an RBI, and Castle added an RBI.


Russell (4-6) was led by Highfield who went 3-4 and Hall was 2-3 with a double.
