Bobcats can't capitalize on chances in loss to Mohawks

FRANKLIN FURNACE — The Green Bobcats have been involved in seven one-run games this season.
Including Monday’s game.
In another pitching duel, the Northwest Mohawks slipped past the Bobcats 3-2 in a non-league game.
"We left too many chances hanging out there," said Bobcats coach Dave Shoupe. "It's correctable, but you can've leave runners on base or look at third strikes."
Green’s Kase McIntyre pitched a 7-hitter as he struck out 5, walked 3 as he gave up just 3 earned runs.
Northwest pitcher Braxton Burrus allowed 3 hits, struck out 6 but walked 8 in going the distance for the win.
Northwest (14-3) got all of its runs in the second inning.
Aiden Armbrister was hit by a pitch leading off, Peyton Wolfe singled and after Armbrister was thrown out trying to steal third base, Braxton Burris walked and Breven Staggs singled to load the bases.
Austin Smith was safe on a fielder’s choice as Wolfe scored. Bradley Mason followed with a two-run single.
Green (15-2) got a run in the sixth inning when Gabe Blevins doubled, went to third on a passed ball and Noah McMackin hit a sacrifice fly.
The Bobcats rallied again in the bottom of the seventh, but the Bobcats fell just a run short.
Kase McIntyre singled and moved up on a walk to Mason Neal. Two outs later, McIntyre reached on an error that scored the run.
Blevins was 1-2 with a double and both Conner Blanton and McIntyre were both 1-3 for the Bobcats.
Wolfe was 2-3 for Northwest, Mason 1-3 with 2 RBI, Staggs and Burris each 1-2, and Levi Shepherd and Chase Kingly were 1-3 while Burris and Staggs were each 1-2.
