Mohawks get even with Vikings, create tie atop SOC-2

AID — And the race is on.
The Northwest Mohawks used an 8-run seventh inning to beat the Symmes Valley Vikings 11-2 on Monday and throw the Southern Ohio Conference race into a near deadlock.
Northwest improved to 11-3 on the season and took a half-game lead in the SOC race at 6-1. Symmes Valley is now 5-6 overall and 5-1 in the SOC.
Symmes Valley won the earlier meeting between the two teams 2-1 in 8 innings.
Chase Kingrey pitched a 5-hitter for the win as he struck out 12 and walked one. The 2 runs were earned.
Tanner Corn was coasting along until the seventh when the Mohawks took advantage of several errors to ignite the 8-run inning.
Corn took the loss as he went 6.2 innings giving up 9 hits, 10 runs of which only 3 were earned, and he struck out 10 while walking 3.
Only 3 players accounted for the Vikings’ hits as Andy Strow was 2-3 with a double, Tanner Thompson 2-4 with a double and Corn 1-4 with an RBI.
Aiden Armbrister was 4-5 as Northwest had 11 hits. Levi Shepherd was 2-4 with an RBI, Wesyn Lang 1-5 with a triple, Peyton Wolfe 1-4 with an RBI, Braxton Burris 1-3, Austin Smith 2-4 with an RBI and Brven Staggs had a pair of RBI.
