OAK HILL — The Symmes Valley Vikings are using a team effort to keep up their winning ways.
Gradee Holland and Tanner Corn combined on a four-hitter and the offense banged out 13 hits as the Vikings beat the Oak Hill Oaks 9-3 in a Southern Ohio Conference 2 win on Friday.
Holland went 4.2 innings for the win as he gave up 4 hits, 3 earned runs and had 6 strikeouts and just 2 walks. Tanner Corn finished and struck out 7 of the batters he faced. He also walked one.
Andy Strow was 2-3 with a double, Corn 3-4 with two doubles and 3 RBI, Tanner Thompson 2-5 with an RBI, and Holland 2-4 to lead the offense.
Carson Brammer was 1-4 with an RBI, Mason Campbell 1-4 with a double, Aydan Freeman and Noah Hutchison each 1-3, and Chase Adkins had an RBI.
The Vikings used a 2-out rally to blow the game wide open in the fourth.
Campbell led off the inning with a double, but looked like he would be stranded after the next two batters were retired by Blaise Barger.
Holland reached on an error and Campbell scored on the play. Strow drew a walk to get two on.
Then Thompson followed up with a base hit into center to score a runner and make the score 5-0.
Corn got ahold of an 0-1 pitch and doubled into left to clear the bases and make it 7-0.
Symmes Valley is now 5-5 and leads the SOC-2 with a 5-0 record. Oak Hill drops to 3-8 and 2-4.
