SOUTH WEBSTER — The “K” in the name Knapp is silent. But the Green Bobcats think they know what it means.
Strikeout.
Jon Knapp had 14 “Ks” or strikeouts on Wednesday as he fired a one-hitter and Green blanked the South Webster Jeeps 4-0 in a Southern Ohio Conference divisional crossover game.
The Jeeps (2-1) only hit of the game was a leadoff single by Hunter Barnard in the third.
Green (4-0) got the scoring going in the first inning and took a 2-0 lead.
Mason Neal and Riddick Jenkins singled to start the inning and Gabe Blevins singled and an error on the hit allowed both runners to score.
The lead went to 3-0 in the second inning when Noah McMackin reached on a two-base error, moved up on a ground out and scored on a hit by Mason Neal.
Green added an insurance run in the sixth inning as Uriah Satterfield led off with a double, went to third on a hit by McMackin and scored when Connor Blanton hit into a fielder’s choice.
Green had eighths with Neal going 2-4 with an RBI, Jenkins 2-4, Blevins 1-4 with two RBI, McMackin 2-3 and Satterfield 1-3.
Easton Large went the distance for the Jeeps and struck out 7 and walked none.
